ALL FOR FDASK

I almost have all of my stuff at the new place now.  All that remains is my big TV, couch, and bookshelves (plus books) from the warehouse where I was living!  Hoping to work that out soon.

Anyway, I found my sd card reader so I’ll share some pics of the place!

Have you seen a radiator before?

I’m curious if any readers here are also located in Toronto.  What resource do you use to find apartments?  I’ve always used Craigslist…  let me know!

I’m sitting in my room, looking out at the rainy streets outside. Digging my new digs. I really got lucky with this place! Such a cool location.

Went to the Mates of State show last night, and it was totally awesome. A band whose name escapes me, opened up. Wasn’t sure what to expect when they came onstage with a cello, violin, and drums. Turns out they play metal! It was some heavy shit.

Then when MoS hit the stage, the band jumped in on a lot of tracks providing strings and horns. Such a nice touch and really put the show over the top. Best $15 I’ve ever spent. Thanks Jen!

Anyway, seeing the guy playing cello on stage reminded me of my interest in picking up that instrument. I need to find a used one somewhere and maybe take some lessons. I think it fits my personality!

I just recently found out that the old Hockey Night in Canada anthem CBC used is being discontinued.  They are currently on the hunt for a new jingle/anthem!

How did I find this out?  A guy I knew back in highschool, great guitar player, Aaron Bales, has submitted an entry for a contest CBC is holding to find their next anthem!

If you have a minute, go and vote for his entry!  Compared to some of the weirdo techno things submitted, his really captures the Hockey Night in Canada spirit!

Last night was my first night in the new room.  My room isn’t furnished very well, as I haven’t had a chance to arrange the pickup of my furniture from the warehouse yet.   I borrowed an air mattress and a folding chair from a friend yesterday, and that helped a little.

The air mattress seems to have a leak, so several times throughout the night I had to get up and reinflate it (without a pump!)  Still, beats sleeping on the floor.

Kitty was doing his best to ruin my nights sleep last night.  At about 4:30 am I was awoken by him meowing right in my face.  I pushed him aside, but he kept at it, so I let him out of the room.   Not 20 minutes later I hear him meowing and pawing at the door to come back in.  15 minutes after I let him back in, there he is again, prancing around my room meowing his head off.

I’m going to be keeping his sandbox outside my room, so at night, I can just lock him out.  Not till he’s a bit more used to the place though.

Well, a room in a house.. shared with a couple other people.  But hey, its in a great location!  Basically right on College street at Havelock.  Sweet neighbourhood.  I’ll probably move in this weekend some time, bring Kitty with me and get him used to the spot.

He’s not getting along well with the dog here as usual.  He needs to run the place, and clearly lets the dog know.

So I got tickets to go see Mates of State on August 4th at Lee’s.  Pretty pumped as they’ve been one of my favourite bands for awhile now.  They also have a new album out which is pretty rad.

Above is a video one of their fans submitted… I think they had a contest for this video and this was one of the top placed entries!  Cheers.

So I’m still scrambling around trying to find an apartment.  Sudden evictions really are a bummer.   At first I figured what with almost half a month I’d have no problem finding a new place by now, but the reality has been a lot different!

My sister has been nice and has let me stay a few nights here and there, as well as a bunch of friends.  Been living out of a backpack and sleeping on couches for the last few weeks.   My cat has been at my sisters, and while I come back to visit him every once in awhile, I can tell he’s pissed about the whole arrangement.  He doesn’t get along with my sisters Dog at all.

With only a few days left in July, its totally mad scramble time.  I have my fingers  crossed I find someplace to live soon!

I came home Thursday night and the locks on the door had been changed, an eviction notice hung.  Apparently the guy I was subletting from hadn’t been paying rent.  Not only that, but he was subletting to me and others illegally anyway.

I mean, the place wasn’t the greatest, and seemed like a crazy firetrap, but at least it was some place to live!

Having to scramble to find a new apartment in the middle of month is a little tricky.
